Founded in the 13th century by Benedectine monks,
the church was effectively reconstructed by Franciscan ones in the sixteenth
century. This makeover left the Romanesque bell-tower untouched and gave
the city one of its first Baroque facades. There are some notable frescoes by Ghirlandaio and Botticelli. |
