The guidebooks call this `one of the finest Renaissance palaces in Florence´ and its solid rustic, graduated stonework exterior was the prototype for the Palazzo Pitti and Palazzo Strozzi. Of the original palace, built by Michelozzi for Cosimo il Vecchio between 1444 and 1464, only the chapel remains. The chapel is beautifully frescoed, and the centrepiece is Benozzo Gozzoli´s Journey of the Magi. |
