The
Rough Guide to Tuscany & Umbria. Well written book with far more local
detail than most other guides. Style is informative and sophisticated
but very friendly. There are some maps, but this is more of a book to
read and enjoy than to dip into for quick reference, and you will certainly
discover things about Tuscany that no other guide book will tell you. |

Eyewitness
Guide. Not as detailed as the Rough Guide, but it makes up for this with
excellent design, maps and photographs. Use it to decide where to go and
what to see and get some basic facts and descriptions, but look elsewhere
for detail. |

Blue
Guide. At the other end of the scale, the Blue Guides have vast amounts
of information, historical notes and overall detail. Excellent on Art
and Architecture. This is the Blue Guide to Florence - there is also a

Fodor's.
Ever popular and regularly updated, the Fodor's guides are rightly famous.
This is the Italy guidebook, not solely Tuscany. |
