The southern part of Ischia offers spectacular panoramas and many thermal treatment centres - one reason the Ancient Romans came here. The Village of Serrara Fontana is the highest on the isle, and the breathtaking panorama is well worth the climb. Getting to and from Ischia is easy. [ map of Campania ]
Hydrofoil and ferry connections link the island to the mainland, with frequent departures from Naples and Pozzuoli, plus tourist trips to Sorrento, Capri and Positano. You can even hire a bicycle and cycle the island, this is a great way to see the sites and the beautiful scenery of Ischia.

At the end of the day, after enjoying swimming in the warm Mediterranean Sea waters, and long hours spent sunbathing, you can either dine on the terrace while enjoying the splendid sea view, or eat out at one of the many superb restaurants of the island. Freshly landed seafood is a speciality, but there is an enormous choice of exquisite traditional Italian cuisine and fine wines.
And although Villa Marialuisa is nicely secluded within its own gardens, you'll find everything you need in the immediate neighbourhood. A restaurant, bar, grocers, supermarket, bank, post office, pharmacist, laundry and tennis courts are all close by, and there is a heated swimming pool 15 km away.
