Atmospheric La Piana dei Castagni is set in a wooded area south of Bologna, Emilia Romagna. It is a friendly holiday base within easy driving distance of Tuscany.
This part of Emilia Romagna has many sites of great natural beauty - there are 3 national parks within 40 minutes travel - and is perfect for walkers and cyclists alike.
With the railway station only 14km away you have easy access to Bologna, Ferrara or the cities of art in Tuscany. Guided excursions and outings are available by prior arrangement.

La Piana dei Castagni is open from March to november and with five double/triple bedrooms offers accommodation for up to 11 guests. Each room comes with a full bathroom and satellite television. The delicious breakfast includes local specialities, cured meats, home-baked cakes, honey, jams and local chestnuts (the eponymous castagni).
Each room comes with a full bathroom, satellite television and telephone. In March/April prices in a double room for bed and breakfast range from €30 to €45. In May/ June prices in a double range from €32 to €40 for bed and breakfast and from €48 for half board. In July/August from €35 to €50 for bed and breakfast and from €55 to €60 for half board. In September/October from €35 to €50.
Dinner is available upon booking request. The price for fixed menu is € 17,00/20,00.
What to taste: In the dishes of the Apennine cuisine you can find the tastes and traditions of past times and festivals. In the numerous restaurants of the area you can try the specialities of fresh pasta such as tortelloni, tortellini and tagliatelle as well as typical breads like the mountain "tigella" and locally produced cured meats and cheeses.
The delicious breakfast includes local specialities, cured meats, home-baked cakes, honey, jams and local chestnuts (the eponymous castagni). Infants under three years stay free of charge and there is a 30% discount for the under-eights.
