| Comments: | Thank you for your site and the opportunity you have provided us lovers of Lucca to communicate with each other. I was born in Lucca and I followed my parents here in 1946. I love Lucca and its quiet distinction. I try to go back yearly to visit my relatives in San Donato, Sant'Anna and Vicopelago. I feel very fortunate to have family there. I love to cook and prepare recipe's and I am now preparing a Lucca Cookbook, a Heart Healthy Italian Cookbook, and a Wild Italian Cookbook containing wild game recipes. It is diffucult to be from Lucca and not be interested in la bella cucina Toscana. Many Italian restaurants all over the United States are owned or have chef's from Lucca, it is really surprising how many. Chicago, for example, Joe Marchetti's Como Inn, Lino Stefani's Stefani, Tuscany, Lino's, Italian Village, Vivere, and the recent Spezzia di Lucca and many more. Lucca appears to have it's own cucina that in many respects differentiates it from the rest of Tuscany. The chicken cacciatora with it's light tomato paste, raw oives and rosemary sauce; it's castagniaccia with fresh rosemary leaves; and it's famous torta verde e torta di cioccolata. Marvelous all! I hope to capture, for those of us far away and yet so intimate with Lucca's delights, that taste and that flagrance which belongs to Lucca, realizing, of course, that Lucca is the "real deal." Anyone interested in my recipe's may contact me. My books are not quite ready to publish. My wife Nancy, a cardiologist, is helping me prepare a truly healthy cookbook, and my mother, who herself owned a restaurant in Chicago, is behind me scolding me when I vary from the Lucchese. So with their help and those of you might like to test my recipe's for their refinement and publishing, let me hear from you. I was In Italy a few years ago, and spent the summer there. I spent the majority of my time doing art in Tuscany. Lucca was my base city and I loved it all.
