The strange beauty of Tuscany’s Maremma
I have spent many happy moments in Italy, but it’s my first time in the depths of Maremma. My guidebook calls it a region of “melancholy beauty; an erstwhile land of evil spells and dark legends and quiet rusticity.” There are herds of buffalo and horses here, once raised wild.
