Puccini’s birthplace, Lucca – museum to reopen. Finally. Eventually.
After a mere six years of, erm, negotiations, news yesterday that the Lucca authorities have finally reached an agreement with Simonetta Puccini (grandaughter of the maestro). They have acquired Puccini’s birthplace in the centre of Lucca, a museum last open in 2004.
Don’t hold your breath for a visit in 2011, however – an initial date for reopening is September 2011.
