The bed and breakfast, which is in a lovely building in its own gardens, is in the Marconi/San Paolo area of Rome. It's a terrific part of the city to stay in, with plenty of restaurants, bars, a cinema, night clubs, supermarkets and specialist shops.
Nearby is the famous Porta Portese market. This is Rome's biggest and best flea market, held every Sunday until around 1pm. You'll find a mixture of anything and everything, both new and old. There are incredible deals to be had, though you'll need to drive a hard bargain! Porta Portese itself is an ancient port on the River Tiber, dating back to the days of Imperial Rome.
Moving around the city from Marconi/San Paolo is easy too. Buses get you into the historical centre of town in just ten minutes, and there are Metro stations nearby.
