Rio is a tiny hill village approximately 20 minutes from the start of the Ligurian Riviera at Levanto, with its wide sandy beaches. It is, therefore, closer to the sea than many of the Lunigiana rentals, and is also closer to the famous and pretty Cinque Terre fishing villages. Vistas of the surrounding hills and mountains stretch out in front of you in this village, so that from here you may truly enjoy mountains and sea with ease. Sesta Godano with all its facilities of shops, bars and restaurants is a mere five minutes drive down the road and the motorway exit at Brugnato is only approximately 20 minutes drive. From here you can drive with ease to Genoa, Pisa and beyond if you want to either explore the coast (Portofino, playground of the wealthy, is only 45 minutes drive away) or, alternatively, spend time sightseeing in Lucca, Florence or wherever.
