Mulino di Noce is an old chestnut-mill offering holiday rental accommodation for up to eight guests. The setting is the Lunigiana, a beautiful, rugged part of the Apennine Alps where northwest Tuscany gives way to Liguria and Emilia-Romagna.

The house is near a stream in a broad, open valley, surrounded by sheep pastures, forests and hiking trails. The property includes a vegetable garden, grapes and fruit trees. Chestnuts, wild berries and mushrooms abound in this area. This is a great holiday spot where children can discover nature. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome (there is a fenced dog-run).
The mill is just five minutes from Noce, a small village where you can pick up groceries or pass some time in the bar. The best way to enjoy the mill is to stargaze, cook in the friendly kitchen, write poetry, paint, hike or mountain bike. There are charming small villages to be discovered around Noce, and language and art courses can be arranged upon request.
Pontremoli (15km) was an important stop-over on the Via Francigena, once a major route for pilgrims who wanted to avoid coastal pirates. The walled town is well worth a visit as is nearby Piagnaro Castle. The area is rich in historical artifacts with several impressive museums and fortifications.
Mulino di Noce is an hour by car from the Cinque Terre — five beautiful villages perched on the coastal cliffs. Parma, Carrara and Genoa are little more than an hour's drive away. The Lunigiana trail passes by the house, and you can fish for trout on the Magra River or ski at Zum Zeri — both 30 minutes away.
This is an ancient and atmospheric holiday house, with accommodation for up to eight guests. There are four bedrooms, all with excellent views, a bathroom and a kitchen/living room with an electric stove, fireplace and wood-burning stove.
One of the bedrooms has been fixed up as a video room where you can watch films in several languages (although there is no television reception).
