Piedmont Hotels - Luxury 4-star accommodation in a splendid palace on Lake Orta, this holiday villa is within easy daytripping distance of Turin, Milan, the great lakes and the Alps.
This remarkable building is in a Moorish style with a minaret and an internal design reminiscent of a Sultan’s palace. With elegant engravings, horseshoe arches, frescoed ceilings in turquoise, it doesn’t sit next to an Arabian bazaar but on the shores of Italy’s Lake Orta.
120 years after its construction, Villa Crespi has maintained its charm even after a skilful refurbishment. The new hotel management has considered every detail: top-class staff, a great restaurant and a wine list with more than 500 labels is just the start. The hotel is in a centuries-old park on the shores of the lake and offers you six rooms and eight suites. Villa Crespi is perfect for parties, conferences, meetings, weddings, dinners and sumptuous banquets. A choice of set or a la carte menus, creative Mediterranean cooking, regional and international specialities ... there is something for every taste.

The Villa Crespi is in the heart of Piedmont, on the banks of one of the most charming Italian lakes. This fairy-tale villa, stolen from The Thousand and One Nights, was the creation of Cristoforo Benigno Crespi, who in 1879 commissioned a villa from the architect Angelo Colla. It took 18 years to realise, with the wonderful gardens dropping to the lake only being completed after Crespi’s death. In the 1930s, Villa Crespi became a haunt for poets, industrialists, princesses and monarchs. And at the end of the eighties it became an exclusive hotel where nature, art and history are intertwined, offering guests a stay unforgettable memories.
There is a huge selection of special events and entertainments on offer, with trips to local nightclubs and piano bars, expeditions to designer factory outlets and local street markets, horse riding trips into the Mottarone Hills above the lake, and Lake Orta itself. From the mediaeval village of Orta to the isle of San Giulio, this is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

There are trips around the lakes: Maggiore with its gardens; Mergozzo a jewel between the mountains; Varese with majestic Sacro Monte. Discover Piedmontese wine, with an itinerary to uncover the cellars of the famous vintages. And there are exciting cities to discover, such as Milan, Varese, Florence, Genoa, Turin and Lugano.
There are numerous museums and galleries nearby. The Circuit of Eco-museums of Orta and Omegna is in the village of Pettenasco. These 14 museums (some fascinatingly esoteric) preserving the culture and history of the area, including the Tap Museum, the Umbrella Museum, a museum of wind instruments, and the Calderara Collection of Contemporary Art, with some 327 pictures and sculptures. You’ll find many other collections of modern and Renaissance art nearby – your hosts will be delighted to provide you with itineraries.
