Originally a 17th century mansion, the Hotel San Carlo, Turin offers 14 beautifully refurbished rooms. Each of the single, double or triple rooms has an en-suite bathroom, central heating, TV and fridge. Breakfast is not available but many good cafes and restaurants are nearby. Situated in the Piazza San Carlo, one of the city's most elegant baroque squares, the hotel is near to many of the most well-known sights. The Egyptian museum has a fantastic collection of important artefacts and the cathedral (Duomo) of St John the Baptist is world famous as the home of the Turin Shroud.
