Villa La Capitata - Holiday flats for rent in Tuscany, Italy

Agriturismo La Capitata (can accommodate up to 31 guests) offers a spacious holiday house and flats for rent in a converted Tuscan villa in the hills of Chianti. Large swimming pool and convenient for Florence, Siena and Arezzo.

This is a traditional country mansion, built in 1870 and recently renovated and converted into holiday flats. The location is beautiful, a sunny spot with commanding panoramic views of the vineyards and olive groves of Chianti and the Arno valley. Here you can soak away the stresses of modern life in the large crystal-clear pool, pick up a suntan on the terraces or enjoy relaxing walks along country trails. Mountain-biking and horse-riding facilities are both locally available.

This is the heartland of Chianti — Italy's most famous wine — and is ideal for winelovers and gourmets. The area is scattered with wineries and excellent restaurants dedicated to local produce and is a hive of activity during the grape and olive harvests (October and November) which are marked by festivals and feasts.

Florence (30km), Siena (50km) and Arezzo (40km) are all within easy distance, spectacular mediaeval cities packed with museums, churches, markets and gardens. Shoppers can pick up anything from antiques to designer labels and there are numerous bars and restaurants specialising in local cuisine. Excellent road links mean that our guests can make easy day visits to these cities but be back in the soothing green hills by evening.

Agriturismo La Capitata is built into the hillside; on one side of the house the hill climbs towards Monte Regina, smothered in olive trees, wild grasses and flowers (particularly in spring when wild poppies abound).

The grounds of the house are on the other side, from the open terrace downwards, and are on three levels. The first level is the vast terracotta tiled terrace that enjoys incredible views of the valley. This communal terrace is furnished with chairs, loungers, large sun umbrellas and dining tables.

The level below comprises the shared swimming pool (6 by 12 metres) and lawns for sunbathing and games.

Stone steps lead down to the third level where you'll find a covered games area (table tennis, billiards, etc.) and a shaded wooded area. The land around the house is fully productive and you may purchase farm-produced wine and olive oil as well as home-made jams and other delicacies (a diet is not recommended during your stay in Tuscany!).
