In Mediaeval times, Donnini was an estate belonging to the monks of Vallambrosa; the last century saw many changes of owner and it is only recently that the part overlooking the fascinating valley of Vicano and the slopes down towards Pontassieve has been turned into a charming abode (and made extremely comfortable and sophisticated in its furnishings and ornaments) by its present owner, Sandro Benini.

The rooms and surroundings are typical examples of Florentine style, gracefully combining beauty and comfort. The frescoes, the antique furniture, the elegant garden fittings, and the panoramic swimming-pool seem to belong to the beauty of the landscape itself.

The property is not far away from the main square of the village of Donnini. This small village is situated in the middle of vineyards and olive groves on the hills under the mountains of the Pratomagno, pretty much halfway between Florence (29 kilometres) and Siena.

The Village provides food shops, coffee-bar, post-office, barber,
hairdresser, mechanic and, especially, the fine bakery of the owner
Sandro Benini and his brother Andrea.
