Bed and Breakfast Borgo Ponte dell'Asse lies only two kilometres from the old walls of Florence in a six hundred year old village of the same name.
[ local map | map of region ]The village is a superbly preserved example of rustic mediæval architecture, with a villa, a mill, a barn, a cantina, and a peasant's house. The owner's villa has a tiny chapel with seventeenth century frescoes and there is a lemon-house overlooking a hanging garden.
These structures have been carefully converted into cozy bed and breakfast accommodation without any drastic modifications to the original architecture. The decor is simple and elegant, and furniture has been carefully selected to match the beautiful surroundings. The rooms are with indipendent entrance, within the main villa. They are spacious and airy, with private bathroom. There is a shared kitchen and a living room.
Double room with bathroom is €490 per week, €70 per night (breakfast included). Triple room with bathroom is €550 per week, €90 per day (breakfast included). Room with four beds with private bathroom, €630 per week, € 100 per night (breakfast included). The rooms are very big with two windows each. This price is for high season, from March to October. Restaurants and food shops are just a short distance away and Florence's historical centre is only a 10 minute drive.
Florence, obviously a major attraction in its own right, acts as a portal to the rest of Tuscany with excellent motorway and rail connections to the vineyards of Chianti, and to Arezzo, Siena, Lucca and the other cities of central Italy.
The surrounding countryside is excellent for walkers and cyclists, and guided tours of the surrounding area and cooking courses can be arranged on request.
