Casa Biancalana, just five minutes from the centre of Lucca, was at one time a stopping point for pilgrims walking the ancient Via Francigena route to Rome. This is reinforced by the small chapel and the fine architecture of this impressive group of buildings. [ local map | map of region ] The complex is composed of the main building, a large apartment lived in by the owners, and five smaller apartments sleeping 2, 3 or 4 people (with kitchen or cooking facilities), three of which face the small inner courtyard and with the other two looking on to the garden. Everything
has been carefully and tastefully restored and decorated, and guests
have use of the wonderful swimming pool and a light and airy communal
space in the old lemonery - you may also stay in rooms on a bed &
