Lucca - villa for sale, sleeping 12 or 13 people Villa Torriani - an eighteenth century villa in the hills of Lucca.
Around six hundred years ago the sunny hillsides of Lucca saw the building of numerous grand villas - early summer homes for various families of the Italian nobility. The eighteenth century Villa Torriani, situated in the pleasant little village of San Pancrazio, well deserves a place in the rich architectural tradition of such homes. The villa dates from the 18th century and has belonged to the current owners since 1970. Completely renovated in the years that followed, it is now a lovely and comfortable home.
Set amongst vineyards and olive groves, it looks over one of the finest panoramas of Lucca and offers rest and tranquility in the midst of the countryside whilst being within easy reach of the artistic towns of Tuscany (Lucca, Florence, Siena, etc.).
Style and comfort are the bywords of the spacious rooms, particularly those of the second floor (piano nobile), which have been restored with the utmost care and skill. The living area on the upper floors covers about 600 square metres. The ground floor, composed of entrance hall, stairway of Pietra serena (a highly valued locally quarried stone used since ancient times for fine architectural detail and sculpture), garage and cellar, covers around 300 square metres. The marble fireplace in the drawing room was designed by Nottolini.
Adjacent to the villa is a well tended Italian garden offering some beautiful shade and a wonderful swimming pool.
