Situated in a unique secluded position in the foothills of the Alpe
Apuane, this private estate has been imaginatively and sensitively restored.
The villa, with private chapel and cottages, has a formal entrance courtyard
and is surrounded by traditional Italian gardens set in terraced vines
and olives, below the lush chestnut forests of northern Tuscany. There
is swimming in the mill pond a short walk along a woodland path.
The old winery, the Tinaio, and two adjacent cottages have been recently
restored and furnished simply but stylishly, now with their own swimming
pool. They operate completely independently, sleeping 8, 6 and 7, but
also, with good facilities for children, they are ideal for families
or groups of friends. Short stays and B&B subject to availability.
Catureglio is the perfect base for exploring the countryside using the
ancient foot path system, which links the surrounding hill towns. The
walled town of Lucca, with it’s renowned fortifications, is only 30
minutes away [Florence 1.5 hours, Siena 2 hours, Pisa 1 hour] Borgo
a Mozzano is 5 minutes drive below in the valley with shopping, restaurants
and tennis courts to hire. There are good riding stables 40 minutes
away.
