Casa Felicina is located in the tiny
old village of Gignano di Brancoli, in the hills above Lucca. The drive
up to the village is rewarded with the most spectacular views down the
valley of the Serchio and beyond, to the plains of Lucca.
Once you've reached the piazza, however, forget your car - unless it happens to be a Fiat Cinquecento capable of being driven with practiced precision - as the village is threaded along a single, narrow stone passageway, with the houses ranged up and above it. |
It's only a minute or two's walk from
your car to the house, and the village is a quiet and peaceful one,
with little evidence of the current century. Nor the last one. The house
has been fully restored over the years, but has not lost a cosy and
intimate atmosphere.
The house (sleeps four) has a small garden to the front and rear, and has a wood oven and grill outside the kitchen door should you fancy trying your hand at pizza-making. Read on ... |
