Bed and Breakfast Tenuta Albereta offers holiday accommodation on a working farm near Montecarlo, a short distance from Lucca (Map of Tuscany). The surroundings are a delightfully peaceful spread of fields and woodland interspersed with vineyards and olive groves — ideal for long country walks and picnics. The owners are enthusiastic ambassadors for the Tuscan countryside, keen to share their local knowledge and their love of Tuscan cuisine, culture and art.

The accommodation consists of several double rooms and a suite, all brightly decorated and comfortably furnished. The rooms range in price from €75 (Euros per night) to €80 (room with a private terrace), and €105 for the suite. All of the bedrooms have excellent views of the gardens, pool or surrounding countryside and one of the rooms in the farmhouse is given over to communications, with telephone, email and internet facilities.

During your stay you will be able to taste and buy a wide range of produce from Tenuta Albereta and other local sources. These include excellent olive oils and wines, bread, fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits — the basis of delicious breakfasts and other meals. Aldo and Cinzia are also happy to provide picnics, barbecues and evening meals on request, and there is the possibility of cooking lessons from Cinzia. These concentrate on local dishes and delicacies, and range from making fresh pasta to the preparation of biscuits and preserves. Weather permitting, meals are served on the terrace by the farmhouse, with the scents and sounds of the countryside adding a natural splendour to the occasion.

Many guests are happy to spend their holiday locally, relaxing in or by the pool or taking gentle walks. The owners will happily point out the most scenic routes and destinations and are even happy to act as guides. Bicycles can be rented locally and other facilities nearby include tennis and golf. Montecarlo is a delightful historical centre and is beginning to be recognised for its excellent local wines.

If you want to explore the rest of Tuscany you are perfectly placed, with Lucca, Pisa, Florence, the Alps and the wonderful beaches of Versilia all within reasonable driving distance.
