| This charming early-19th Century stone built house has been owned
by the same family since it was built in 1825 a cosy home for
the shepherds who have been tending their flocks up here for centuries.
This traditional way of life continues today, and the only other nearby
house is still inhabited by a shepherd and his wife.
The house is situated high above the beautiful mediaeval hilltop town of Coreglia Antelminelli, in a secluded position overlooking a large prato or alpine meadow. There are breathtaking views of the chestnut covered hills and the mountains beyond. The location is ideally suited for walkers, nature-lovers and those eager for a romantic retreat from their everyday lives. |

The house is 20 minutes drive beyond the hill town of Coreglia Antelminelli and close to the small village of Piastroso. It is reached by a minor road (untarred for the last ten minutes) which is negotiable in any normal saloon car. Piastroso has a bar/restaurant which serves typical Tuscan food and Coreglia Antelminelli has a variety of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, a post office and a bank. The region is dotted with small hill towns & villages, many with their mediaeval fortifications intact. The Orrido di Botri a spectacular nature reserve is a short drive away and the Grotto del Vento (the Cave of the Winds) is nearby. Both are well worth a visit. The cities of Barga, Lucca and Pisa make excellent day-trips and Florence is easily reached by train from Lucca via Fornaci di Barga (Use the links below to find us on the map.)
