Tofori is an ancient village, famous
for the cream-colored church and belltower that sit prominently on
the
hill, visible from any approach. Tofori is situated in the hills above
Lucca, 20 minutes by car from the historical town center, and the surrounding
villages of Petrognano, S. Andrea in Caprile, Camigliano, Gragnano
and San Gennaro, all of which are located on the Strada del Vino, a
scenic, winding hillside road that takes you to many of the wine-producing
vineyards and olive groves, which produce some of the worlds best olive
oils.
Tour their cantinas, sample and buy wine and olive oil. All of these
towns have small, family-run restaurants offering lunches and dinners
that feature local and seasonal specialties served in lovely, scenic
settings. |
