Casa Iole Guest House offers comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in four nicely decorated bedrooms (three double rooms, one single) and has a spacious breakfast room where you can enjoy typical Tuscan home-cooking. If you just want to relax and read there is a large private garden with deckchairs and a table and chairs. Baby facilites include a baby-seat and cot (there is no charge for children under three) and there are garden games for older children. Lunch and dinner are available by prior arrangement.
A single room at Casa Iole costs €20 per day, a double €40 per day.
The guest house is about 3km from Lucca, a pearl of a city which has managed to resist most of the ravages of modern life. The city centre, entirely enclosed by spectacular ancient walls, is largely pedestrianised and is a delightful, old-fashioned melange of shops, bars, restaurants, offices and homes. Attractions range from the fine architecture — Roman remains and Renaissance churches abound — to the numerous fairs, markets and festivals which crowd the cultural and social calendars.
It is possible to hire a bicycle to explore the area, and there are plenty of sporting facilities within a few minutes of the guest house — including tennis, horseriding, football, bowling, fishing and a swimming pool. If you want to go further afield there is a motorway exit within a couple of hundred metres, giving rapid access to the Versilian Riviera (15mins), Pisa (20mins) and Florence (60mins).
