There are two large bedrooms on the first floor. The blue room has two single beds and space for either a cot or another single bed. The other bedroom has a double bed. Both bedrooms on the first floor are en suite to the same bathroom - ideal either for a family or friends sharing.

There is another, very spacious bathroom, also on the first floor with a bath and separate shower cubicle. On the first floor landing there is a shower room/toilet. The bathrooms are all modern and have quality fittings.
On the second floor there are two further bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with three single beds and a cot.

The barn has been beautifully converted and has a well equipped modern kitchen on the ground floor, with hot and cold water, gas hob and oven, fridge, washing machine and dryer. Also on the ground floor is a large shower room and a lounge/dining room with a lovely open fireplace.

A spiral staircase takes you upstairs to two bedrooms, both of which open onto a sunny terrace at the back. The larger bedroom has a double bed, and the other bedroom, bunk beds. It is necessary to walk through the large bedroom to arrive at the other bedroom, so would probably be best suited to a family. A cot is available upon request.

The views from both the bedrooms and the terrace are truly stunning. Both the house and the barn are centrally heated during the winter months.

Lucca, close by, is a walled city that dates from pre-Roman times. It is a labyrinth of narrow streets and small piazzas, marvellous architecture and elegant shops. Fortunately, Lucca is off the main tourist routes and has therefore retained its traditional Tuscan feel. Other cities within easy reach include Florence, Pisa and Siena. Taking the autostrada from Lucca, Pisa airport is about thirty minutes by car, Florence an hour and Siena two.

The coast and the popular resorts of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are a forty-five minute drive to the west, while the mountains - the Apuan Alps and the Apennines, lie immediately to the north, and again take about an hour in the car.

North of Forte dei Marmi are the famous marble towns of Pietrasanta and Carrara, where Michelangelo used to go to choose his white marble blocks for sculpture.

While Gugliano is well located for excursions, one could understandably be tempted just to stay at home, sitting in the garden enjoying the sun, lounging beside the swimming pool, plopping in whenever you have the urge, or alternatively curling up with a good book under the shade of one of the fruit trees.
