This a typical, old-fashioned, Sienese farmhouse located in southern Tuscany
near the mediæval towns of Montepulciano, Pienza and Sarteano and only
40 minutes from Cortona, Montalcino, San Casciano Bagni and Lake Trasimeno.
Siena, Orvieto and Perugia are an hour's drive away; Florence, the Chianti
valley and the seaside an hour and a half; and Rome is two hours away.

The farmhouse has a splendid view over the Val d'Orcia with its wheat fields, olive groves, clay hills (le Crete) and woodland — stretching to a range of hills dominated by the magnificent Mount Amiata, Tuscany's highest mountain. The reed-covered porch and the barbecue by the pool both enjoy this beautiful panorama, and make a very pleasant place for al fresco dining.
A small courtyard planted with climbing roses, lemon trees and beautifully coloured geraniums separates the main building from the stone brick house where the owners live.
This is a tranquil, secluded spot, ideal for walking and cycling, but not too isolated — the towns of Montepulciano and Chianciano are easily reached by car for shopping, and the motorway is only 25 minutes away. This part of Tuscany is famous for its beautiful mediæval towns, art treasures and thermal springs. It is also the area where famous wines like Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano are produced. Nearby interesting sites include Montalcino, Pienza, San Gimignano, Montepulciano, San Quirico and Bagno Vignoni.
