Bagno Vignoni by night - Siena, Tuscany, Italy
The tiny mediaeval hamlet of Bagno Vignoni is a 40 minute drive from Siena and about an hour from Florence, Arezzo, Orvieto and Perugia. Visitors can relax by the thermal pools or bathe in the famous chalky waters, which are reputedly beneficial to bones and skin. If you are staying for a few days there are a number of spas in the vicinity - each noted for a different curative property - Bagni San Filippo and San Casciano dei Bagni are both within half an hour's drive. Wine enthusiasts have the delights of Montalcino and Montepulciano close at hand, both offering fine wines based on the sangiovese grape. La Locanda del Loggiato will happily arrange excursions to these towns, as well as to Siena and San Quirico. Guests with a taste for the finer things in life should also take the opportunity to taste local olive oils, wines and delicious pecorino cheeses.
