Vivo d'Orcia lies half way up the Amiata Mountain in southern Tuscany and overlooks the magnificent Orcia Valley. There are some outstanding walks, with tracks and paths leading through the surrounding woodland which begs to be explored. Wine-lovers will be sure to visit Montalcino and Montepulciano nearby hill-towns known for their graceful architecture and outstanding wines. The monasteries of Sant'Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore are well worth seeing and Pienza, San Quirico d'Orcia and Bagno Vignoni (hot sulphur springs) are also nearby.
Florence and Rome can be reached in 2 hours, Arezzo, Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi are easy day trips. The seaside near Grosseto is within an hours' drive. Use the links at the bottom of the page to find Casa di Pietro on the map. |
