a half. Trains run up the valley from Pisa and Lucca (with connections
to Florence and the sea at Viaregglo) to nearby Fornaci di Barga. The
historic spa town of Bagni di Lucca is 20 minutes by car. Excellent
skiing is available at Abetone and the Passo delle Radici with particularly
interesting possibilities for cross-country skiing.
