A dish much in demand is fish soup, prepared in the same way as in the Marina di Ragusa restaurant, also belonging to the La Rosa family. There is a big choice of starters all involving fresh fish, caught at Donnalucata. They include tuna seasoned with balsamic vinegar, Bronte's pistachio nuts with onions and small fried fish. Among the first courses is pasta with grouper and cherry tomatoes from Pachino, linguine with swordfish, aubergine and baby fennel, tagliolini with lamb ragout, bean maccu with legumes, scampi and prawns. One of the signature dishes is a typical Sicilian pasta and tuna dish.

Among the many second courses there are two must-tastes: sea bream with potatoes and capers from Salina; and grilled cod fillet, perhaps accompanied by a wine recommended by the sommelier, Pinuccio. An excellent list of cheeses and game, mousses and confectionery complete the menu.

Or check out the Ristorante Da Serafino. On a long beach of powdery sand, facing a lovely blue sea, this is one of the nicest spots on the island, full of bars, shops and discotheques - reminiscent of Saint Tropez. Dating back to 1953, it is now run by the two sons of the founder: Antonio, the barman, and Giuseppe, a sommelier and a connoisseur of food and wine. You might start with a salad of fresh tuna fish with Pachino cherry tomatoes, moscardini (a small shellfish) capers from Salina, delicious home made pasta with swordfish, eggplants and wild finochio, or tasty ravioli with grouper and a prawn sauce.
