Hotel Mediterraneo

Looking onto the broad curve of the bay from Siracusa, this Sicilian hotel is both central and quiet.

Just a few minutes walk takes you from the Hotel Mediterraneo to the ancient isle of Ortigia: the historical centre of the old Greek city. The railway station is even closer as is the main bus station of the city. The modern shopping area is similarly near at hand. The international airport at Catania is quickly reached from Siracusa by bus or taxi. The main SS115 and SS114 highways are also easy to reach.

This Sicilian hotel, open in summer 2004, welcomes guests with modernity, comfort and a delicious breakfast. Every room is equipped with telephone, TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, safe, and an internet connection. There is a room set up for disabled guests.

All of the rooms are very comfortable and functional. All have a private bathroom and a balcony, and from some rooms you can admire a relaxing sea view.

Siracusa (or Syracuse) was the historic heart of Magna Graecia, effectively the capital of Ancient Greece until the ascent of the Roman Empire. Archimedes was one of the most famed scions of the city. Today, it's possible to find many traces of the Greek Corinthian civilisation. Visit the Archaeological Park, and the famous Greek Theatre. Every year you can watch performances of the works of the Classical Masters, such as Sophocles, Euripides and Aeschylus.

As well as the Isle of Ortigia, with its marvellous landscape and ancient monuments, there is the Paolo Orsi Museum, an important collection of Greek and Roman relics.

Journey into the hinterland of Sicily, to explore the wonderful landscapes of Palazzolo, the Baroque splendours of old Noto, the necropolis at Pantalica and the coast of Syracuse. Also well worth a visit is the beach and the seaside hamlet of Marzamemi, the beaches within the natural reserve at Calamosche, Porto Palo, and the buzzing tourist areas of Fontane Bianche and Arenella.
