Sicily accommodation - 10km from the beautiful, historic town of Siracusa, famed for its Greek remains and natural beauty, this holiday farm offers a superb vacation in Sicily, with short stay holiday accommodation.
Floridia lies just outside Siracusa, on the east coast of this lovely Mediterranean island. The agriturismo is immersed in beautiful, peaceful greenery, an area of citrus trees and olive groves.

Your hosts offer comfortable hospitality in rooms with ensuite bathrooms and a communal cooking area. For those wishing to enjoy a peaceful walk, Cava Paradiso is next to the farm and horse riding is available 500 metres away. This is a superb, central location for visiting Siracusa, Pantalica, Palazzolo, Acreide, Noto and the famous Fontane Bianche Beach.
Apart from the beautiful coastline with its sandy beaches and rocky coastlines, Siracusa has four nature reserves of particular importance: Pantalica, Fiume Ciane, Cava Grande and Vendicari.
Siracusa itself, like the whole of Sicily, is bathed in antiquity. This was one of the most important centres of ancient Greece, and the town of Syracuse (as it was) was settled by the Corinthians as long ago as 733BC. It rose to become a centre of Greek power to rival Athens (indeed Athens sent a fleet to subdue Syracuse in 415BC, only for it to be routed).
The ancient Greek centre of the city was on the fortified isle of Ortygia, now entirely mediaeval in its buildings and making an enjoyable day’s tour. One of the most remarkable sights is the cathedral, with the mediaeval Christian church being built on the pre-existing, fifth century BC, Temple of Athena. Remarkable enough that there has been unbroken worship on this site for 2,500 years; even more remarkable that much of the original temple masonry survives as part of the ‘new’ building.
Or watch a performance in Siracusa’s Teatro Greco, one of the high points of any vacation in Sicily, with a mix of ancient and modern productions every summer.

And head down the coast to Noto. Baroque towns are a feature of the south-east of Sicily, and nowhere is this more impressively seen than at Noto – it’s around 30 minutes by train or bus from your holiday accommodation outside Siracusa. Year by year, more of the marvellous honey-coloured monuments and buildings of the town are cleaned free of traffic grime and pollution and restored to their former glory.

Climb the blackened sides of the smouldering Mount Etna, which dominates the eerie lunar landscape around. See the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, or admire the Cappella Palatina in Palermo.
