The freedom of the entire estate is yours
which includes the secluded walled garden, orchard and vineyard. An idyllic
place to paint on a hot afternoon. Caugliano 5 is virtually next door. This is our home, where your tutor will be staying and where some of the workshop sessions will be held. The local geometra believes the house was built in the 14th / 15th Century, but our friends in Caugliagno tell us it is much older. Maybe it was once an inn used by pilgrims on the Franchigena route, which ran tantalisingly close to Fivizzano or maybe simply an agricultural building adapted for wine production, animal husbandry and chestnut roasting over the centuries. Whatever its history, Caugliano 5 is beautiful, deservedly under the protection of the Belli Arti. |

From its hillside position the house looks
over olive groves to wooded hills and the distant snow capped Appenines. From the terrace an outside staircase leads to the garden which is still a little on the wild side, but from here the views are even more breathtaking - a painter's paradise. |
