This Tuscan holiday accommodation, lying in Pieve di Chio in the Arezzo region of Tuscany, comprises 5 en-suite luxury double rooms for bed and breakfast, plus 2 self-catering apartments.

The facilities at Casa Portagioia have been created to a very high standard: the pool offers the perfect setting to relax under the Tuscan sun. It is perfectly placed for visits into Umbria, Arezzo, Cortona, Florence, Siena, the wine regions of Chianti, Montepulciano and much more. And Casa Portagioia itself provides unbeatable comfort, style and tranquillity.

The countryside around is some of the most beautiful you will find in Tuscany. Cypress trees together with olive groves, vines, oaks and evergreens grow in abundance. During the summer the landscape is transformed to include the golden hues of grain and sunflowers. Throughout the spring, fields become a sea of crimson poppies.

Casa Portagioia offers 5 independent double bedrooms and two mini apartments. Each is tastefully furnished with its own bathroom, air-conditioning, central heating and satellite television. The 5 bedrooms can be arranged to provide either double or twin sleeping accommodation. The 2 self-catering mini apartments include a fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher), wood-burning stoves and, for chillier evenings, full independent central heating. The slightly larger apartment has its own large private terrace with spectacular views across the Valle di Chio. However, all accommodation offers spectacular views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside.

Apartment Funghini is self-catering accommodation available at a daily rate of EURO €190 (€170-€175 off season) or €1260 per week (€1100-€1190 off season). It has a king size bed; en-suite bathroom; wood-burning stove; central heating; TV; fully fitted kitchen-dining room (including dishwasher); air conditioning and private balcony-dining area overlooking the Valle di Chio. There is a very comfortable 5ft divan/settee in the main living area. All linen, towels and fuel are included. A welcome hamper is available.

Apartment Andreocci is also self-catering and prices are as Funghini. The en-suite apartment has a king size canopied bed; wood-burning stove; central heating; TV; air-conditioning; fully fitted kitchen (including dishwasher); dining area and small exterior dining terrace. All linen, towels and fuel are included. A welcome hamper pack is available.

 

There is also a choice of lovely rooms, all either double or twin-bedded, all at a daily rate of €135 (€115-€120 off season) or weekly €890 (€790-€810). These have queen size beds (or two 3ft singles) in a large, traditional Tuscan room with en-suite bathroom. There is central heating and air-conditioning, TV, and full continental breakfast is included. All linen, towels and daily service are also included.

A minimum booking of 2 nights for bedrooms and 3 nights for apartments is required.

In the mornings you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast served either on the delightful sunny terrace overlooking the olive grove or in the dining room (€10 for self-catering guests). During the day a light lunch can be served around the pool or terrace for a small additional charge. A private dinner party is offered to guests three or four evenings a week. Alternatively, there are many excellent restaurants in the area. Whether you are looking for simple home cooking or more elegant dining, your hosts can arrange bookings on your behalf.

A delicious regional table d'hote meal is currently served 2 evenings a week for guests in the dining room or the terrace (if warmer). The charge is usually around €35 per person (excluding wine) depending on the style of menu. There is no a la carte menu though meals can be adapted to accommodate certain tastes. Tuscan wines, beers and minerals are available.
