This Tuscany vacation home Italy is an apartment for two guests, lying within a house occupied by the owners. The flat is equipped with a ‘kitchen in the closet’ (dishwasher, oven and a fridge) and there is satellite TV. Poggio Landi sits on a hill 520 metres from Pratomagno. There are horse-riding stables 10km away. The two-hectare garden has a 15-metre swimming pool, shared with the owners, and there is a bocce (bowls) court. The village of Ambra is close by, handy for all your grocery shopping.

The house lies in lovely countryside but is conveniently positioned just west of the main A1 road, which runs north-south through Tuscany (and eventually down to Rome and Naples). This makes it easy to explore nearby sights, sites and cities.

Arezzo, a little way to the east and towards the Apennine mountains and the Umbrian border, is a superbly historic old town. Dating back to the original Etruscan settlers who gave their name to Tuscany, Arezzo was mentioned by the Classical poet Livy. Long before the Romans arrived in 331BC, this was one of the main cities of central Italy. Today, those millennia of history make Arezzo a fascinating place to visit, with its Roman amphitheatre, cathedral and numerous medieval churches.

To the west, Siena is a delight. This medieval city comprises winding concentric streets (largely pedestrianised) which eventually end up at the Campo, the shell-shaped piazza at the heart of the town. With one of Italy’s most dramatic and imposing cathedrals, Siena is worth at least a day of your time, and has some superb restaurants, and great bars and shops.
