Providing Italian farm holidays, this agritourism in Chianti, Tuscany is personally managed by its owners.

Poggi del Chianti is on the Monti del Chianti next to Badia a Coltibuono. The farm produces organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Wines IGT and Chianti D.O.C.G., and Valdarno poultry. It sits amidst the two hills of Montaio and Morellino – peacefully located in the famous wine region of Chianti, 2km from the village of Cavriglia.

Here, you're surrounded by olive trees and cypresses and will enjoy a magnificent view. This is an ideal starting point to visit Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Cortona, while in the Chianti area there are historic castles such as Gaiole, Vertine, Brolio, Radda and Castellina. The apartments are equipped with kitchen, WC, shower, satellite TV, hifi, barbecue, garden and swimming pools. There are guided tasting sessions and cookery courses.

The environment at Poggio del Chianti is typical of the Monti del Chianti with steep slopes and walled terraces. The 11 hectares sits 400 metres above sea level, and the land produces an extra virgin oil both robust and aromatic: with the main artichoke flavours, slightly piquant and a bitter final note – a classic Tuscan oil of high quality. The colour of Arezzo's Chianti wines are ruby, going to pomegranate with ageing: a dry, savoury, tannic flavour that ages to become soft and velvety. And the Valdarnese white chickens produce extraordinarily good meat and superbly tasty eggs.

The farmhouse is ideal for organising your holidays in Tuscany. The apartments maintain the original layout of Tuscan country houses in the 19th century; the heart of the house is a big fireplace in the kitchen, and all the others rooms share this cosy, rustic ambience. All are pretty rural dwellings with lovely furnishings.

There is much to see nearby, including the Villa San Jacopo in Castiglioni. Along the Chiantigiana road from Montevarchi toward Cavriglia we find Castiglioncelli, comprising a main villa and attached farm. The principal building is from the late 18th century. There is the Roseto di Cavriglia: a botanical garden with plants of scientific and historic importance; a living museum of rare beauty and attractive detail. The Roseto at Cavriglia is one of the few private rose gardens of its size which exist in the world today. There is the Abbey of St. Lorenzo at Coltibuono, founded in 1049, and one of the most beautiful estates of Chianti. And there is the Parco Naturale Di Graviglia: a protected area of 600 hectares, with chestnut trees and oaks, home to wild goats, horses, sheep, asses, fallow deer, bucks, wild boars, foxes, bears, bison, llama and monkeys.
