This Tuscan holiday home sleeps six in comfort … a cosy cottage in the heart of the country yet close to Florence.
Casa dell' Aia is a cosy cottage combining the best of all worlds. You’ll find yourself immersed in Tuscany’s beautiful countryside in an unspoiled old farmhouse, yet you’ll enjoy every modern comfort. This Tuscan holiday home was constructed 250 years ago as a granary, but it has been a family home for a number of years.
And, located 20km (13 miles) to the south of Florence and 1km from San Casciano (the first exit from the autostrada or highway that runs between Florence and Siena) the house is easy to reach. Florence airport is just 25km (15 miles) away.
[ local map | map of region ]San Casciano itself is a lovely old town. Sitting within its medieval walls, you'll discover two great restaurants, a very nice bakery, a store to purchase your fruit and vegetables, a marvellous butcher’s shop, plus the tourist office, post office and bank. Parking is easy in San Casciano, and from here, a bus takes you to the centre of Florence in half an hour.
This Tuscan holiday home sleeps six and has a master bedroom with a queen bed (which cannot be divided) and an en-suite bathroom. There is a queen bedroom (whose beds can be divided); this room has a bathroom (shower) in the hall just outside the bedroom. There is a twin bedroom (the beds can be joined to make up a queen-size bed); this room has a third bathroom with shower.
On the ground floor you’ll find a small but comfortable living room with a non-working fireplace. This room extends into the dining room, a charming kitchen and a pantry.
It’s a delightfully cosy house and has all the amenities you expect. There is central heating and the kitchen has a five-ring hob, cappuccino machine, dishwasher, washing machine and toaster. There are screens on all the windows, and the floors are laid with oriental rugs. You also have a laundry room with ironing facilities. The original terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and the original stone staircase preserve the charm of a traditional Tuscan country home.
Outside, you’ll find a lovely covered porch for al fresco dining, plus a second covered pergola at the front door. This house is part of a large estate, and there are two other adjacent rental properties. This house is available from May to September only.
