The house itself is tucked just behind the Duomo (or cathedral) in the ancient building where artist and sculptor Lorenzo Ghiberti created the famed Porte del Paradiso, the magnificent doors of the Baptistery. The modern paintings that decorate the hotel are by Fabio Calvetti, a renowned artist from Certaldo near Florence. The mosaics meanwhile were created by Angela Ceri, a Florentine who has researched the antique traditions of mosaic work using original tools and traditional materials such as stone, marble and vitreous paste.
