Another large two-roomed flat, Acciaiolo has a more modern feel, with lower ceilings, but an equally stylish interior. The apartment covers 72m², and the corner kitchen occupies its own separate area. The flat has views over the grounds and is bright and airy. The sitting room has tiled floors, Persian throws, a sofa bed and armchairs, while the dining area has a large antique dining table, which can seat many guests. The double bedroom, unusually spacious, is particularly peaceful and quiet.
Del Riccio covers 68m² of the first floor with access by the original staircase, and is furnished with period pieces. This roomy Florence vacation rental apartment has a spacious, well-lit sitting room and a spacious double bedroom, with its many windows offering lovely views of the hills. The bathroom has two windows, looking in different directions, whilst never compromising guests' privacy.
And the setting is as historic as it is picturesque. Villa le Piazzole overlooks a small square formed by the junction of Via Suor Maria Celeste and Via San Matteo in Acetri. This is one of Florence’s famous old houses, mentioned down the centuries. Arcetri's Observatory is here, as is Il Gioiello villa, where Galileo Galilei lived and worked for 15 years. He lived his last years here close to the convent where his daughter Maria Celeste was a nun. Her name is now recalled by the street which leads to Montartino.
Historical documents, and the coat-of-arms discovered during the restoration, reveal that the villa was the country seat of the Acciaoli, an ancient Florentine family, responsible for the building of the Certosa di Galluzzo monastery, visible from the property.

The two roads which meet here, leading from Poggio Imperiale and from the Pian dei Giullari, are mentioned as good country and hillside walks in many guidebooks. These narrow roads, winding between stone walls covered in moss, are almost completely free of traffic. Guests staying at the villa enjoy a rural idyll while being a few minutes from the centre of Florence.
The ring of hills which separates Villa le Piazzole from the city also provides protection from the effects of the city traffic, with obvious benefits in terms of clean air. Leading off from a small square is the entrance to the car park, surrounded by olive trees. An 18th century gate leads to the garden, from which an arched loggia leads to the entrance door of the residence and thence to the apartments.
