This is a really lovely property both within and without. It is set in the Mugello area, a rolling, beautifully cultivated area, and rich with vineyards, olive groves, and pine, oak and chestnut woodlands.
The nearest town lies just 2.5km away. Pontassieve, where the Arno meets the Sieve, is a centre for the Rufina wine region, just to the north. This is an ideal spot for picking up your groceries, for restaurants and for bars. Florence meanwhile is just a short drive away, lying 16km from your Italian holiday villa.
The principal Tuscan city, Florence is the world's most celebrated storehouse of Renaissance art and architecture. The dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore dominates the city's roofscape. At its feet lies the great Piazza del Duomo, ringed with cafes and buzzing with life. Cross the famous Ponte Vecchio and visit the Boboli Gardens; enjoy the Uffizi Gallery which houses a celebrated and famous art collection or see Michelangelo's famous statue of David at the Accademia di Belle Arti. There is San Marco with its marvellous collection of the art of Fra'Angelico, and a host of excellent restaurants, cafes, bars and shops for when you've had enough culture ... Florence is a city you'll want to return to again and again.
The lovely mediaeval city of Siena, with its spectacular cathedral of alternating black and white marble layers, its maze of winding streets and central Campo, lies 80km away. And there is the rolling countryside, extraordinary beauty and fine wines of Chianti to explore too. There is tennis and horse-riding 5km from the house and a golf course 30km away.
