The sulphurous hot springs of Saturnia, bubbling through the rock at 37°C, are both a marvellous sight and an opportunity to recharge and replenish, while Pitigliano (the major town in the south of Tuscany) soars on its tufa escarpment above the valley floor. Mediaeval buildings sit atop the immense aqueduct and it is surrounded by Etruscan and Neolithic remains. Pitigliano is 15km from Villa Montaperto.
