“Il giardino del nespolo” is a comfortable apartment located in the city of Follonica, in the heart of Maremma Toscana. It's the ideal place for a pleasant and relaxing holiday, and is positioned strategically: even on foot, it is minutes away from the city centre, the beaches, the tennis courts, the public park, shops, restaurants and the train station. Follonica developed around the foundry developed by Leopold II in 1834 to bolster the economy of Tuscany. These were Europe's second most important iron-works, and have become a major, all-season tourist attraction.
The apartment is situated on the first and last floor of an independent building in the typical Tuscan style. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with a sofa bed, two bedrooms, a bathroom, an internal garden and an external courtyard, where there is space for bicycles.
This apartment is ideal for four people, with space for one extra person on request, and the weekly rent runs from Saturday to Saturday. The property has independent gas heating.
There is a wide variety of historical, archeological, naturalistic and cultural attractions to visit by train or by car, and for lovers of the sea the beaches of Cala Martina, Cala Violina, Rocchette, Marina di Grosseto Marina di Alberese, Castiglione della Pescaia, Punta Ala, Capalbio and Talamone are renowned for their beauty.
The Val Cornia has several important Greek and Roman remains, the Etruscan necropolis in the Baratti and Populonia Archeological Park, and the Archeological Mines Park of San Silvestro, with its museums of mining and the eponymous "Rocca" or castle. The charming villages of Suvereto, San Vincenzo and Campiglia Marittima are nearby, while the Renaissance centre of Piombino looks out over the Tuscan Archipelago from its promontory. The region is rich in nature reserves, museums and areas of artistic importance.
There is a ferry service which provides an easy connection to the islands of Elba and Giannutri, part of the Tuscan Archipelago. The neighbouring area is rich with nature reserves, parks, archeological areas and natural springs.
The food and wine are also famous, and there are three “Strade del vino” (Wine routes): Strada del vino e dei sapori Monteregio, Strada vino e sapori colli di Maremma, Strada del vino di Montecucco e dei sapori d'Amiata.
Various sports are catered for in the area, including golf, cycling, horseriding, tennis, swimming and sailing. You are also well placed to visit cities of art like Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Siena, Arezzo, Rome and Naples.
