Apartment Camelia is cosy accommodation in Lucca city centre. A combination of antique furniture and contemporary design creates a warm and quite enchanting atmosphere.
The owners, an Italian historian and a Japanese humanist, bought Apartment Camelia as their own retreat in Lucca and are glad to share with their guests their own love for Beauty and History. It is located on a corner between Via Galli Tassi and Via San Paolino, with a charming view upon the little local shops. Here you can buy all your foodstuffs and household items. You also look onto the medieval roofs of the city centre.
Thanks to its location, you can easily reach the apartment by car to unload your baggage on arrival; you then park in one of the three car parks within walking distance.
Camelia is inside an old building that has been recently restored, respecting its original characteristics and keeping all of its historic charm. In the foundations of its building, pieces of the ancient Roman walls have been uncovered.
Entering the apartment you are welcomed by a large and warm open space, in which a modern, fully equipped kitchen by Renzo Piano and pieces of antique furniture perfectly combine. The room has a small and sunny balcony, with a little storage area for the washing machine. From here, you look onto the expansive camellia tree in the inner courtyard (not belonging to the apartment) and which flowers in the spring.
In restoring the apartment, the owners have made good use of the height of the ceiling of the entrance hall, with its ancient wooden beams, and placed a small study space on the mezzanine floor.

Here there is a sofa, a single sofa bed, a desk, a commode and elegant lamps. The sitting room, thanks to the sofa bed and an old style booth, can be used as a third bedroom.
The double bedroom is a sunny and elegant private space lit by two big windows. All the ceiling of this room is decorated by a beautiful fresco, whose soft colours create a soft and romantic atmosphere.
Modern amenities, such as a microwave and LCD television, combine with antique furnishings to make the perfect blend of contemporary style and comfort, and traditional elegance.
