Holiday home near Lucca - Casa Arsina - Tuscany, Italy

A superb holiday home close to Lucca – Casa Arsina is an 18th century shooting lodge. Beautifully refurbished, this luxury property sleeps eight, has a nice little garden and a swimming pool.

The house, built for a local noble in the 1700s, sits on a hill overlooking the surrounding valley of Lucca. The views of the plain of Lucca from the house and the garden are quite spectacular. The villa, meanwhile, is very well furnished with antique pieces.

The villa has recently been tastefully restored, retaining the original beamed ceilings and using antique cotto floor tiles. At the same time, it is very well equipped with modern comforts and each bedroom has its own bathroom. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms and the house sleeps eight. The garden, to be frank, is not so large but it is very nice, pleasant and very well kept. There is a swimming pool, a pergola with a wooden table for your al fresco meals ... and unforgettable countryside all around.

The layout is as follows. The ground floor has an entrance hall, living room, a fully equipped kitchen with dining table, and a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The first floor has three double bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. Moving outdoors, the garden is to the front of the villa and is complexly secluded, private and very quiet. On the lefthand side (with the house behind you) is the swimming pool and on the right is a veranda on which you can take your breakfast or dinner. There is also a table and chairs in the garden for sitting, relaxing, reading and so on. Sun beds are provided.

The two owners (a friendly and helpful couple) live on the top floor, though this will in no way affect your privacy. Their apartment has its own totally separate entrance and driveway, and you won’t be sharing the garden or the swimming pool. They can help you for anything you need – but if you prefer you can also never meet them.

Arsina itself sits on a hill north Lucca and less than 10 km from the walled city. The house is reached by a totally paved uphill road. The last 50 metres up to the main gate are very steep.
