Gallillori is located in the hillside village of Petrognano, just 17km from the historic, walled city of Lucca. High on a hill, the house is wrapped in vineyards, olive groves and woodland.

Gallillori is divided into three lovely, tastefully-furnished rental apartments, each with an independent entrance. The apartments can be rented separately or, if you need more space, can be rented as a unit, the dividing doors opened to create a single, spacious holiday home.

Each of the apartments has a private, furnished, outside dining area and there is a swimming pool which is shared by our guests. The house also boasts a traditional pizza oven.

This is an idyllic holiday base in Tuscany, with all the advantages of a peaceful country village setting, but not too far from the sights of central Italy.

Local attractions include the Pinocchio Park at Collodi and the Strada del Vino, a scenic winding road that takes you past some of the area’s wine and olive estates, many with charming restaurants in a lovely, scenic setting.

This part of Tuscany is famed for its thermal spas and was long a favourite retreat of the Italian nobility — the hills are packed with glorious villas and perfect, formal gardens that are well worth a detour.

Slightly further afield, but within easy driving distance, are the great cities of Tuscany: ancient, walled Lucca (20 min), the miracles (and airport) of Pisa, and the amazing Renaissance treasure trove that is Florence (45 min).

Fitness fans and nature lovers will want to explore the alpine parks of the Garfagnana to the north, while the more laid-back holidaymaker will probably head for the beaches of the Versilian Riviera (40 min) or ‘take the waters’ at the nearby thermal spas of Bagni di Lucca.
