From the dining room and bedroom 1 the view is of the splendid Cathedral of San Martino while the lounge and bedroom 2 overlook the leafy walkway of the City Walls. All of the rooms have large windows furnished with both internal and external shutters of traditional design.
The building comprises just six flats in total, and the communal staircase is wide and well lit, with shallow steps allowing for comfortable access with suitcases to the upper levels. The views from the top floor flat are well worth the climb!
Corso Garibaldi is a tree-lined avenue immediately inside and running parallel to the walls of the City of Lucca. It is located on the map between the Porta San Pietro and the Baluardo di San Columbano. The railway station is adjacent to Porta San Pietro and just five minutes walk from the apartment. There is metered car parking on Corso Garibaldi and unrestricted parking near the station.
The accommodation comprises a spacious lounge (with sofa bed), dining room/kitchen, two utility/storage rooms, master bedroom (either twin or double beds) with en-suite shower room, second bedroom with double bed and second shower room. It has recently been completely refurbished and is supplied with a full complement of bed linen and kitchen equipment for up to six people.
[ local map | map of Tuscany ]Amenities include TV (plus satellite), dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, microwave, full central heating, air conditioning, insect screens. Normal usage of electricity is included in the rental but during periods of extreme weather there may be an extra charge for central heating or conversely use of the air conditioning. Meter readings are taken on key handovers by the managing agent.
Changeover day for weekly stays is normally Saturday. Guests are requested to arrive between 2pm and 7pm in order to collect keys and to leave before 10.30am on their day of departure. Special arrangements may be made for longer stays. Rental levels depend on number of occupants and length of stay but are in the order of EURO €500 - €750 per week in low season and €750 - €900 per week in high season. A deposit of 30 per cent is required to hold a reservation with the balance due six weeks prior to the holiday. Payments are made by bankers draft in euros made out as instructed on the application form.
By rail from Lucca many other interesting venues are easily accessible within a day; Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, the Versilian Riviera as well as the charming fishing villages of the Cinque Terre. One can take a boat to the Cinque Terre from the little port of Lerici but, if you like, it is better to go by train and walk the beautiful coastline between the villages.
