Lucca vacation rental - Apartment Guinigi is on the fourth and top floor of a prestigious Lucca town house just under the famous tower of the same name in the very heart of the city. Its height means that there are marvellous views over the roofs, towers and churches of the historic centre.
This jewel of an apartment has recently been carefully restored in rustic style with the traditional beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors, and the combination of modern and period furnishings providing an elegant contrast to the typically Tuscan surroundings.

Stepping outside to explore Lucca you'll find yourself in one of Italy's loveliest cities. Smaller and less busy with tourists than some of its fellow Tuscan cities, Lucca is packed with delights for the visitor. The town is over two thousand years old, with the original street plan laid out by the Romans. Over this, in the Middle Ages, the prosperous merchants of Lucca laid out new streets - narrow and mazelike, some of them are little more than alleyways.
During the mediaeval period the whole town was encircled by a monumental defensive wall, which still stands intact and is one of the delights of the city. The massive walls have parks and tree-lined paths running around the top making them a popular circuit for cyclists and joggers, with great views of the Romanesque churches of Lucca within and of the hills without. Indeed even within Lucca itself the narrow streets give the cyclist and the pedestrian precedence over drivers: this is a great town to wander on foot. There are excellent restaurants, bars and shops in this charming little city, plus a wealth of mediaeval architecture, with some particularly fine Pisan-Romanesque churches, such as San Michele, San Francesco, San Frediano and the Duomo itself.
