This is a small, friendly country hotel in the scenic countryside north of Lucca in Tuscany. Friendly staff, a swimming pool and a restaurant combine to make this a wonderfully romantic holiday stop-over.

The Villa Volpi Hotel enjoys marvellous views, standing in the countryside near the walls of the mediaeval city of Lucca, a Tuscan city rich in art and history. The house sits in a 20-hectare estate of olive trees and vineyards, from which the Villa Volpi farmhouse produces organically certified wine and olive oil.

The friendly and discreet staff are fluent in a variety of languages. Whatever you need, simply ask. The old farmhouse provides accommodation in over 16 bedrooms, and the hotel has almost as many staff as guests.

The reception opens onto the impressive hall of the villa, from which you reach the upper rooms and bedrooms. The hall is elegant but sober, with the interior design including some very nice Louis XVI period furniture. From here you can access the garden and enjoy views onto the fields of the farm.

At the heart of the hotel lie a number of living rooms with furniture from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, perfect for relaxing moments and unhurried conversations. The furniture and the comfortable sofas provide the ideal atmosphere for a leisurely read (there is plenty to choose from in the villa's library), to enjoy a cup of tea, or watch television. And when you've had enough of the rural idyll, and want to make contact with the rest of the world once more, you can take advantage of your room's internet connections.

Bathed in sunlight and reflecting the vivid colours of the surrounding countryside, all 16 rooms provide spectacular views over Mount Pizzorno and the city of Lucca alike. Comfortable and elegant they have all modern comforts, including air conditioning, fridges, safes, telephone landline, internet connection and satellite TV.

The bathrooms are spacious and well equipped with an impressive attention to detail - hairdryers, for example, are provided.

Depending on the season, prices for single room range from EURO €70 to €100. Costs for double room vary between €100 and €130. Easter and New Year's Eve are considered to be high season.
