Whether you stay for a night or a week, the magical, soothing effect of Bed and Breakfast Casa Matilde’s lush, green surroundings will help you make the most of your holiday in Tuscany, Italy.
The holiday accommodation is in a three-hundred-year-old Tuscan country house which lies in three acres of gardens and woodland. The gardens are perfect for gentle strolls, or for catching up with your holiday reading under the shade of a tree. More energetic guests can play tennis or bask in the large, well-tended swimming pool.
The house has been carefully decorated and refurbished, managing to provide comfortable holiday accommodation in a rich, authentically Tuscan setting. The pale limewashed walls lighten up the rooms and offer a contrast to the rich reds and browns of terracotta tiling and chestnut ceiling beams.
The rooms have private bathrooms with showers and are equipped with colour television. Extra beds can be made available for some rooms, allowing them to sleep up to four guests. Other features to be found in some of the rooms include air conditioning, a fire place, a minibar and even a sitting room.
Prices range from Euro €130 and depend on season, number of guests and which room is occupied. Please confirm details on booking.

Although B&B Casa Matilde offers a haven from the hectic rush of the cities, it is by no means isolated. The beautiful resort town of Viareggio is only 3km away, an ever popular holiday destination with a long stretch of turn-of-the-century bathing establishments. Viareggio has excellent facilities, including some outstanding fish restaurants and bars. Puccini spent much of his time here, with a villa on the edge of Lake Massaciuccoli to the south. The lake is wonderful for boat trips and attracts bird-watchers and opera lovers alike.
Excellent motorway links put the ancient, walled city of Lucca and the miracles of Pisa within half-an-hour's drive. Both are well worth a visit, with some splendid examples of mediæval and Renaissance art and architecture. Slightly further afield, but ideal for day trips are the cliff-side villages of the Cinque Terre, the alpine parks of the Garfagnana, the vineyards of Chianti and of course the fabulous treasures of Florence.
