This splendid 17th century villa sleeps seven (plus two in the additional apartment) and is reached via a majestic, imposing gate and thence through an alley of old trees... a beautiful villa rental in Lucca.
Main part of the villa has been converted into a comfortable holiday home. The architecture of the house, the geometrically beautiful gardens and the beautifully decorated ceilings reveal the great past of Villa Costa, founded in the 17th century by the ship-building family Costa di Genova.
Located 6km from the centre of Lucca, it lies in the village of Marlia near the wonderful Villa Reale, a former summer residence of Elisa, the sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. You can visit the magnificent park of Villa Reale with its centuries-old trees and lemons.

Marlia is in an ideal position to reach the most historically important towns of Tuscany, such as Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Siena, and other fascinating destinations such as the village of Collodi (with its Pinocchio Park) and the spa resort of Montecatini. The beautiful beaches of Versilia are approximately 25 km away.
This spacious, well-restored Lucca villa rental is rich with atmosphere and lies in a the main wing of the old house. There is a large terrace equipped with dining furniture, sun umbrella and deckchairs, so you’ll make the most of summer living.
The ground floor has an entrance hall, large kitchen/dining area with fireplace, stove, oven and fridge-freezer. The utility room has a washing machine; there is a pizza oven, a small lounge (TV room) and a small single bedroom and bathroom with shower only and WC.
The first floor has a spacious living room with a painted ceiling, and has antique furniture and an open fireplace. The master double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with tub, shower, bidet and WC. There are two twin bedrooms, and a bathroom with tub, shower, bidet and WC. A further bed is available.
The interior furnishings are in a comfortable, tasteful, unpretentious style. There are mosquito screens in all bedrooms, and the restored bread/pizza oven works perfectly. A completely fenced garden of about 1500m² is at the disposal of all guests. Parking is in the allay in front of the villa; two bikes are available on request, and there is a cell phone for guests. Internet wirless connection is available for some one with own computer.
The English-speaking owners are occasionally at home, within a small independent wing of the villa. The second floor with small windows facing the garden is closed. Buses to Lucca stop right in front of this Lucca villa rental. There is a grocers 300 metres away, shops and a restaurant 1km away, and Lucca is 6km. The nearest beaches are 25km away, and Florence, Siena and the Cinque Terre are all within reach for a day trip.
And although handy for Lucca, you are in the midst of the countryside, where you can pick your own fresh herbs from the garden. These Lucca villa rentals range from EURO €520 per week in low season, through €690 and €790 and up to €900 per week in peak season. Linen is €8, and phone and heating is charged by use. The final cleaning 60 Euro.
